MARRIAGE AND ANNULMENT

The Sacrament of Marriage is a covenant by which a man and a woman establish in the presence of God and His Church a lifetime partnership, which by nature is ordered for the good of the spouses and the procreation of children. Mixed Marriages

I would like to ask info about mixed marriages.

My husband and I are planning to getting married at the Catholic Church in the Philippines hopefully 2 years from now. I am a baptized Catholic, and my husband is a non-baptized Baptist.

Is it required by the Catholic Church that a non-catholic must convert into Catholic to marry a Catholic?

I would appreciate to hearing from you.

Disregarding the Immigration Requirements

I am a 22 year old Filipina, getting married to a 27 year old American here in Bacolod City. I would like to know the different requirements we need in order to be married in the Catholic church disregarding the immigration requirements (which we already have). Are their any classes that we need to attend to like in the states?

Thank you very much. I am looking forward to getting a response from you regarding this matter. God bless you!!

Ask for a "Defect Form"

Here am I again asking for another help. I believed that this time you can furnish my more informations...

Well, this is regarding marriage. I have a case of an American who is going to marry a filipina. This American was baptized first in the Catholic (Father is a Catholic) and a practicing Baptist(mother side). His first marriage civilly (in Luoisiana) to a Baptist woman and got the divorced. The Filipina is single.

The American has yet to receive the sacrament of Confirmation. I referred him to the Chaplain of the military base where he is working and the Filipino chaplain told that he must still ask for a "defect form" from the diocese where he was baptized.

I tried to contact the parish priest (St. Lucie, Florida) where he was baptized, till now no response.

My question is: does he really needs it? Does he needs a document about his divorced, from the Catholic Church? how can I process the papers???

You are the one that I hope can clear my idea and how to move...

Thank you very much for your kind attention!

Closer to our Reception Location

My fiance and I are inquiring about your beautiful church because we are scheduling to be married in Sept. 2005. Our wedding reception will be held at Onteora Mountain House. We currently belong to St. John's church but would like to be married in a church closer to our reception location. Would it be possible for my mother and I to come look at your church and possibly set up a meeting for more detailed information. Thank you so much for your time. Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Civil Divorce in the States

Greetings in the name of our Lord-

Thank you for the valuable information and links provided by your Web site--- Many a night I have surfed your site for inspiration guidance and HOPE...and HOPE has been granted.

This is the first time I am writing regarding my situation.

I am an American and my husband is a Filipino.

I am not a Catholic but I am a baptized Christian who is exreemly grateful for the grace the Holy Spirit has evidenced in my Civil Marriage of 15 years this October.

My situation to be brief is this....

My husband resides in the Philipinnes.

The Holy Spirit sustains me and I do not know if I should go into the details of the maritial situation with this e-mail and why I feel a sacramental Marriage has taken place.

I have tried to contact my local Archdiocese and have spoken with lay personal and have been instructed to get a Civil Divorce in the States.

My only request was to submit our situation for review by the Tribunal in my area to confirm if a sacramental Marriage has taken place and if the union may be elligable for
con-validation or Radical Sanation.

I have been told by the same individual my husband will not change and since I am not a Catholic there is no reason to have the Tribunal review my case.

I have prayed and fasted regarding this situation.

I honor the Canon Law and have reviewed it and found it coincides directly with the Bible.

As a Christian I am to follow the Bible and if the Canon Law follows the Bible I also follow Canon Law.

My husband and his family currently participate in the a Catholic Parish and minsitries such as Cruscillo, CWL, and CFC-

I feel I am to bring my situation to my Catholic brothers and sisters even if a am not a Catholic.

I do not feel a Civil Divorce is the solution.

I am not resentful or upset but Praise the Lord for the gift of Wisdom and Dicernment and know I am to pray for these individuals and the advice given is out of misudenerstanding.

I had the awesome opportunity to live in the Philippines for 1/2 year and the Lord taught me a lot during my visit.

I feel the Lord is walking with me each day and thank HIM from the bottom of my heart.

Any information or guidance which my be provided will be much appreciated.

With God's Blessings..

PSYCHOLOGICAL INCAPACITY

I WAS MARRIED IN A CATHOLIC CHURCH IN THE PHILS. ON JUNE 27, 1992. ON JULY 28, 1994, I FILED FOR A DECLARATION OF NULLITY OF MARRIAGE IN MANILA ON THE GROUND OF PSYCHOLOGICAL INCAPACITY AND THIS WAS GRANTED ON SEPT. 06, 1995.

IN 1998, I LEFT THE PHILIPPINES AND IS NOW PRESENTLY LIVING IN NEW YORK. I GOT MARRIED HERE LAST DEC. 01, 2003 AND THE WOMAN I MARRIED IS FROM THE PHILIPPINES.

MY FORMER SPOUSE HAS ALREADY ENTERED INTO A NEW RELATIONSHIP AND HAS NOW A CHILD.
I INTEND TO FILE FOR A CHURCH ANNULMENT AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF IT IS POSSIBLE FOR ME TO FILE THE SAME HERE IN NEW YORK WITHOUT A NEED FOR ME TO TRAVEL BACK TO THE PHILIPPINES. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE BEFORE THIS CASE BE FINALIZED? WHO SHOULD I APPROACH FIRST? CAN I FILE THIS AT ST. PATRICK'S CATHEDRAL? HOW ABOUT IF MY FORMER SPOUSE WOULD NOT COOPERATE IN THE ANNULMENT PROCESS? PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHERE AND HOW TO START. I HAVE SOME MORE QUESTIONS BUT I DO NOT KNOW WHOM TO TALK TO.
